MILWAUKEE, Wis., April 28, 2007-- More than 20 bulldogs showed who was boss when they barked their message of ‘Beauty in All Beings Everywhere’ (BABE) when they gathered with their people to celebrate National Bulldogs are Beautiful Day's flagship event in Milwaukee, today.
Standing as metaphors for people and their continued challenge to accept and respect others differences and admonish prejudice, the bulldogs were hosted by Stinky Valent. Stinky is the bulldog made famous by his person, Jackie Valent, who wrote a book entitled, "Stinky the Bulldog" (ISBN: 9-7814208269-7-5 • 36 pages •stinkythebulldog.com). In the book, Stinky is a loveable bulldog in a new neighborhood and eager to make friends. He is quickly disappointed, however, when kids crinkle their noses and run away, even though hey don’t even know him.
“My goal is to share the message of acceptance, whether you talk about a bulldog versus bichon or black versus white,” said Valent. “Our country is a mosaic that communities before us produced, but as a society, we have left many behind regarding their rights as citizens as issues such as color, ethnicity, sexual orientation and even body size continue to separate us. I hope that one day we collectively wake up and realize that we are so much more productive when we work together rather than against one another.”
Valent, who plans to make National Bulldogs are Beautiful Day an annual event, will continue her quest to abolish hate and prejudice-based activity, and educate children and adults on the benefits of treating others as they wish to be treated.

Photos from National Bulldogs are Beautiful Day in Milwaukee

Jackie and Stinky started their day with television interviews.
Stinky led old and new friends on a mini-parade near Central Barkon a truly beautiful day.
Pooped from their walk up the street, Stinky and his friends tried to get everyone together for a group photo.
Stinky's friends showed off their wardrobes for the party.
With the help of their people, party pooches left their paw prints for a scrapbook to remember the special day.
Tired from the walk, this fashion-forward gal was too pooped to party.
Stinky sat patiently while Jackie said a few words, including some cool stuff from Milwaukee Mayor Barrett.
Uh-uh, Petunia...you might be little and cute, but this is MY party!
Jackie added a personal touch to copies of "Stinky the Bulldog."
Thanks for coming to my party, and visiting www.bulldogsarebeautiful.com! Remember to treat others as you want to be. See you rufffffly soon!
